People of BYU Yury Turonak Soviet historians viewed the Belarusian Youth Union as a group of Nazi collaborators and traitors. After the collapse of the Soviet Union some researchers represented the BUY as one of the most progressive movements in Belarus. History cannot be black and white. This is the problem with many researchers. For clearly subjective reasons, Yury Turonak's People of BYU has not been published in Belarus. The country has no room for unbiased and interesting works that contrast with the government's ideology. Researchers still have no access to most documents concerning the BYU. Turonak found material for his book in the Brest Region's State Archives, in Hrodna and Minsk. He scrupulously selected reliable information about unknown aspects of the organization. The book can hardly be approved or criticized because the author presents facts in an unbiased way. This is a serious and consistent account of events involving the BYU arranged in a chronological order.

The title Vatslau Ivanouski and the Rebirth of Belarus emphasizes his role in the nation's self-determination process. The book contains detailed information about Iv... More »
The collection of works by outstanding Belarusian historian Yury Turonak is an excellent source of information about obscure and secret pages of Belarusian history. He studies in great detail education in the ethnic Belarusian territories in the Bialysto... More »
More »
