Yury Turonak usually explores interesting and prohibited topics in Belarus' modern history. Among his subjects are people deliberately ignored or whose role is downplayed by official historians in Belarus. One of such figures is Vatslau Ivanouski, a Belarusian nationalist. The title Vatslau Ivanouski and the Rebirth of Belarus emphasizes his role in the nation's self-determination process. The book contains detailed information about Ivanouski's scientific, public and political activities. It also describes events and circumstances that influenced the national rebirth process. Turonak thoroughly, in great detail studied Ivanouski's life, and sought to present the material in an unbiased way using facts, accounts of people and correspondence.
