The War Raged On. From Anti-Soviet Resistance History Many people have heard of the Ukrainian Resurgent Army, or banderovtsy as they were called in the Soviet Union, Lithuania's Forest Brothers or Poland's Armia Krajowa. Belarus during World War II was portrayed a partisan Soviet republic. Syarhey Yorsh, who studied anti-Soviet resistance movements in Belarus and made an unsuccessful attempt to defend a thesis on the subject, played an instrumental role in uncovering the truth about Belarus after World War II. His collaboration with Syarhey Leskets made it possible to bring back from historical oblivion pages from our glorious history of struggle for the right "to be called humans." Although most documents on the subject are still held tightly, the book is an attempt to throw at least some light on those tragic years of fight against the Soviet government. Apart from the few documents available, the book is based on witness accounts.
