(The Book of Miracles in Front of the Mother of God Icon in Stary…) is a research paper by Belarusian historian Anton Miranovich on the cult of the Mother of God of Kornin venerated in the 18th century in the Podlasie area, the Hrodna and Brest regions, Valyn and Galicia, a historical region in Eastern Europe currently divided between Poland and Ukraine. The Book of Miracles that has been kept in the Suprasl Monastery’s library helped the author research the history of the Stary Kornin parish, established in the mid 17th century, and origins of the icon’s cult. The veneration of icons was a deep-rooted tradition in the former Rzeczpospolita. Apart from famous shrines in Zhyrovichy, Czestohowa and Pochaiv, there were many local shrines that attracted pilgrims, including the Mother of God of Kornin icon. The cult dates back to the early 18th century marred by troubles and epidemics and was embraced by the Uniate Church worshippers in the Bialystok region. The icon attracted not only Eastern Catholic Church pilgrims, but also worshippers of the Roman Catholic Church. The cult faded after the partition of Rzeczpospolita (the Commonwealth of Poland) as the Kornin parish was turned over to the Russian Orthodox Church. The Mother of God of Kornin icon was evacuated together with refugees from the Stary Kornin Church in the Bialystok area in 1915. Its whereabouts are unknown, just as its exact appearance.
