Droga życia

A folk decorative towel - piece of linen, which, although once widespread; in recent years has been almost driven out of everyday life of the inhabitants of the lands around Bielsk Podlaski. The prospect of losing this tradition, that is unique in many respects, prompted the workers of the Museum in Bielsk Podlaski, Branch of Białystok Podlaskie Museum; to make an intervention with the aim of maintaining folk decorative towels and traditions associated with them.In retrospect we can see that we were really close to have this important part of our past gone forever together with people; their knowledge and skills. Today the threat appears to be smaller, and we would like to share this extraordinary collection.
