Panarouje. Anthology of Short Stories Edited by Yury Valkavytski, Library of the Belarusian Literary Association "Belavezha." The series begins in 1990. Book N43, Bialystok 2003 The first anthology of Belarusian short stories in the history of the Belarusian cultural community in Poland. The authors are Polish Belarusians, ethnic minority representatives who cherish their identity, language and culture. Some of them are established writers, members of the Union of Writers or Belarusian PEN, others write for the first time. Short stories include reflections on life, accounts of incidents, history of localities and profiles of people who lived or live in Podlasie. Stories reflect traditions, mentality, culture and customs as perceived by the authors and characters; give a glimpse of the past and look into the future. The writers think about everlasting and transient things, about life and nothingness. The stories are arranged in a chronological order depending on the date when they were published or reprinted. The authors represent three generations that have roots in Panarouje. The collection shows that Belarusian literature continues to prosper in Poland. It helps readers discover new names in Belarusian literature.
