Lyavon Vashko was given a Hlinyany Vyales literary award for Poets-Tsars: Thirsty Five Belarusian Pictures in 1997. The award was established by Free Writers’ Society in 1993. One blogger describes the book as “delicacy high.” Lyavon Vashko’s works are for readers with a delicate literary taste skilled in reading and finding hidden senses. It is for those who consider reading not just a pastime but a soul festival. Some books evoke a feeling of regret about time lost. Vashko’s works can be read many times but no regret. One always can discover new hidden senses. You can read his stories again day after day, or in months or in years. It always feels like the first time. (N.H.)

Reading is also an art. Lyavon Vashko’s literature is for readers with a good taste. (N.H.) More »

Dreams constitute Section I of Lyavon V... More »

European Tales by Lyavon Vashko are European only in the title, and maybe also geographically because Belarus is located in Europe. They might have been called European because they are so short, succinct, but give a lot of food for imagination. Lyavon Vashko has a knack for writing short stories. He is fond of small and compact things. There is another interpretation of the title. In fact, Lyavon Vashko’s works are on the level with ... More »
