Maryan Petsyukevich By Lyavon Lutskevich, Halina Voytsik Maryan Petsyukevich (1904-1983) was an ethnographer, a prominent cultural figure in Western Belarus and Vilnius, and an editor of the Shlyakh Moladzi magazine. The first half of the 20th century saw the rise of Belarusian nationalist movements, especially in Vilnius. Not surprisingly, the fates of many Belarusian activists are closely linked to the city. The Vilnius Belarusian Gymnasium and Ivan Lutskevich Belarusian Museum played an important role among the numerous Belarusian organizations and communities of the period between two wars. Most of the prominent Belarusians, including Maryan Petsyukevich, had connections to the two establishments. This is the reason why Lyavon Lutskevich and Halina Voytsik included the book in the Vlinius Residents' Profiles series, although the main character was deported to Siberia and later lived in Poland until the end of his life. The book portrays Maryan Petsyukevich as a capable and hardworking man who persistently followed his path and could find a way out of extremely difficult situations.

Alyaksandar Ulasau's name was banished from the press for many years. Few newspapers mentioned the journalists in articles full of factual errors.
