The Minsk Land is a small anthem to Minsk, Minsk’s land and Minsk residents. The poem is a reflection on the author’s family, people who lived side by side. It is notable for recollections, sincerity and nostalgia. Ales Klyshka says about his book: “Time comes for every person to close the book and draw the line. A serious disease confined me to bed, mercilessly disrupting my usual way of life. I was confined to bed for two months between life and death. My loved ones and friends did not believe I would ever recover… When I was about to say good-bye to this world I realized that my thoughts, images and recollections will be gone with me. The pictures of my life came to my mind and I wanted to share them with my loved ones and friends… There were intervals when pain subsided, I used to take a pencil with my unsteady hand and wrote. That is how I began writing the Minsk Land poem. The poem of recollections, confessions and redemption. The book comprises short complete poetic stories.”
