Europe’s largest country in the Middle Ages was for a long time a topic banned for unbiased research free from ideology. Grand Duchy of Lithuania (VKL) researchers from five countries – Belarus, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Ukraine – met in Hrodna in 2003 to familiarize each other with their research works written after 1991. This publication contains speeches, discussions and exchange of opinion that took place at workshops in the framework of the international conference of historians. Historians from every country made presentations, highlighting the issues that researchers usually deal with while studying the VKL. The annexes to each workshop feature a bibliography of research papers published on the subjects between 1991 and 2003. (Z.K.)
