This is a collection of articles by Belarusian journalists and thinkers reflecting their perception of Poland. The stories originated during their trips to Poland and as a result of study of Poland's statistical data and opinions of experts. The collection includes articles about the general political situation in Poland, an analysis of the country's self-government system, a comparison of the electoral systems of Belarus and Poland, stories about the economic situation in the border areas, Poland's tourism industry, the disabled, the penitentiary system, the Belarusian minority's culture and education opportunities. Particularly interesting is a study of Belarusian historiography in Poland. Members of the Belarusian community in Bialystok do not want to be associated with Belarus under Lukashenka. But still, they pin hope for a resurgence of nationalism on the Belarusian state, which is Belarusian not in the name only but also in spirit. Clearly, the collection focuses on Polish realities, but the authors compare Belarus and Poland and offer their conclusions. For this reason, the book may be even of greater interest to Belarusian readers than to the Polish ones.
