The Tsar's Delirium The collection of stories is an easy reading, but it leaves a sad feeling about things that are already part of the past, that get lost failing to keep pace with civilization. These are things that we lose forever and irreversibly. The book is about Belarusian Padlasie village residents who consider themselves Orthodox believers but are pagans deep inside. It creates a true picture of a village, its residents, their beliefs and prejudices. The book is about death, dying and lessons and incidents associated with it. Death and delirium is the subject of all stories. People living close to the Bialowieza Forest are a civilized ethnos who, however, are powered by their savage roots. They live in villages, drawing energy from land and forests. Events described in the book take place in the village of N. One can replace the letter with the name of any village located in Podlasie and other areas, for instance in the Brest or Hrodna regions, or elsewhere in Belarus. The events described could happen in any place inhabited by Belarusians. In some places their traits are more vivid, in other their traits are less distinct, but they die more or less the same way anywhere.
