The book features a description of various literary trends in western Belarus and profiles of several writers, including Mikhas Vasilyok, Ales Salahub, Mikola Zasim and Alyaksandr Haurylyuk. In addition, the author analyzes developments that had an effect on the evolution of Belarusian literature. This book can be seen as a continuation of another collection entitled The Poetry of Struggle. But even the two books do not produce a complete picture of events and personalities that played a key role in the evolution of Belarusian literature in western Belarus in the early 20th century.
