Kastus Said… Aphorisms, opinions, thoughts This is a small book of poetry, a collection of aphorisms, opinions and thoughts. The author calls the short verses "canapés." One part of the book is entitled "canapés." "I call them 'canapés' because they are so tiny, like small sandwiches, just for one bite… and 'canapés' because they come to mind when I lay on my couch [couch is translated kanapa in Belarusian]," the author told Radio Racyja. Part I of the book is entitled To Myself and Others. It features the author's reflections on various true-life, philosophical and political subjects. The author took notes to keep his thoughts longer and reflect on them later. As time went by he decided to share his thoughts with others. This is why the used the title To Myself and Others. Part II entitled Canapés features short poems, jokes, jingles and verses. (N.G.)
