Polish-Lithuanian-Belarusian Border Relations: Historical Records, Progress of Research The first volume of publications under the general title "The Shared Legacy of Northeastern Territories of Former Rzeczpospolita" features documents closely connected with original ethnic areas of present-day Poland, Lithuania and Belarus currently located beyond these countries' borders. It saw the light as a result of an effort by historians to uncover unknown documents in the archives of Hrodna, Brest, Vilnius, Bialystok and Suwalki. Some records went missing during the two world wars, while others were transferred to archives in the three different countries, which made it difficult for scientists to access them. After the end of the Soviet occupation of Belarus, Lithuania and Poland, local historians started to explore new subjects and share research results and historical records, making new discoveries and exploring the unknown.
