The Akathist to Christ's Suffering Akathist is a hymn of praise to the Survivor, the Blessed Virgin and saints. It originated in the Eastern Christian tradition as a hymn of praise to the Blessed Virgin. As time went by, Akathist Hymns were written on other themes. Published in Lviv, The Akathist to Christ's Suffering is a translation of the Akathist into Belarusian that can be used for worship in Belarusian Orthodox temples. Priest Syarzhuk Horbik, who translated the Akathist, says that the urge to pray prompts him to translate the most widely used divine texts into Belarusian.
