Kazimir Svayak is a penname of priest and poet Kastus Stepovich (1890-1926). The Work of My Thought, Heart and Will is a unique piece of Belarusian literature. It is not a classic memoir, or a diary. It is a book of notes taken by the author throughout his life. It creates a spiritual portrait of the Belarusian poet and priest. It is an account of difficulties and obstacles that first Belarusian Catholic priests had to overcome to conduct services in Belarusian. Although Svayak gives account of events that occurred in the early 20th century, the book has not lost its topicality. Svayak employs exceptionally lyrical and trustful tones to describe his day-to-day cares. "My past has passed before my eyes, flashed like a beam of light and died away. It will never come back. Every day, every moment, a new beam of light flashes and disappears forever. Happy is the one who builds himself a harmonious and solid past. Why am I so restless and weak-willed? OK boy, brace your energies. Put up everything that has passed before you. Build a new, better life every time."

Ноша гэтых двух пакліканняў была вельмі цяжкай, патрабавала самаахвярнасці і штодзённага падзвіжніцтва. Ён працаваў, не шкадуючы ... More »
