The book featuring presentation material used at the conference "Pushkin – Belarusian Culture – Modernity" does not only focus on the great Russian poet, but also on his experience and works that enriched world culture. Pushin influenced Belarusian culture as well. UNESCO declared 1999 as the Year of Pushkin. As for Russian culture, language scholars describe his language as graceful, sparkling, yet mostly colloquial, noting that modern Russian is the language of Pushkin. The featured conference material does not only deal with Pushkin's influence on Russian and Belarusian culture, but also includes Lithuanian experience and looks at the poet's legacy from the European perspective.
