Politicians, Ideas, Fates: Civic Positions amid the Intensifying Ideological and Political Diktat in Belarus in the 1920s-1930s. The publication is about people who lived and worked in the 1920s-1930s, about their civic positions, views and ideas. The work is based on documents, testimonies and archive files unknown or little known to many readers. But these documents give a clue to social and political developments of the time, without analyzing which it is impossible to understand the present and the future. As the author notes, the work was not intended to give exhaustive answers to difficult questions. The book was not designed to present a panorama of sociopolitical developments in the 1920s and 1930s. It focuses on specific developments linked to the fates of specific political, state and public figures, prominent scientists and writers targeted by the Stalin regime. (Z.K.)
