"Black on White is an album of black-and-white photographs made in the last remaining wild primeval lowland forest in Europe called Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Janusz Korbel took images of mysterious places of the old forest, natural sanctuaries untouched by humans. There are no clear signs of human activity, and even if humans were there, the nature did its best to take over the space, wipe out all signs of the man's presence and asserted its rights. On entering the wild, one feels himself a stranger. This is a kingdom of nature, wild animals, rare species and huge trees. The man is a guest here. The Black on White photo album is a mystery captured by the camera and displayed as it is. Black-and-white images show the beauty better than color pictures. They encourage viewers to use their imagination to see the world in its colors. Some pictures have captions detailing the size of big trees that grow in Belovezhskaya Pushcha. (N.H.)
