Although Byelorussians have been living in Cleveland since the last decade of the XIX century, very little has been written about them in English. Over the past thirty years, the Byelorussian community in Cleveland has received some publicity in the news media. Nevertheless, the group remains relatively obscure. This publication provides a brief analysis of the relationship between Byelorussia's historic past and its present status in the United States. Particular attention is given to the Byelorussian community in Cleveland: social, cultural and religious life, political views, relationship to the old country, etc.
