Someone may have a different view but I believe that we are born where we are the most needed. It is true, most people see the meaning of life in making the place that was blessed to have them born there give them as much as possible. If I were one of those people I would be unhappy. But I am a happy person. I was born in Belarus. My mother took down my verses when I could not yet write... Afterward I began filling out the thick yellow notebook myself. From time to time I wrote in Belarusian, no one advised me to do so. I just felt the need for it. A writer who cannot publish his works feels physical pain. In 2000, I and Viktar collected some money and published small numbers of copies of our collections in Polatsk with the help of poet Ales Arkush, head of the local Free Writers’ Society. My collection is entitled The Travelling Show. The world is still interesting to me, Belarus is still an unexplored unique country, harmonies and plots still pervade the air like the odor of falling leaves or apple tree blossom. As for my biography, can it have only one interpretation at least relatively, not absolutely? (L. Rubleuskaya – the autobiography)
