I accompanied a group of students from Warsaw on a tour that took us to Brest, Moscow and the Black Sea. During those ten days I had unforgettable impressions, conversations, meetings, discussions, enjoyed Caucasian nature and the sea. I was a Soviet guy to the bone, while my young counterparts from Poland were Poles. I often could not dig them. There was a group of three or four students who held aloof from the rest of the group. They had discussions among themselves but never joined others. "These guys are the future of our filmmaking," someone told me. One of them was Krzysztof Zanussi. We were introduced but did not have a chance to talk properly to each other. Krzysztof promised to send me a book from Warsaw. We exchanged several letters and I got the book.
